Xtreme Charity Event!
Friday, July 28th, 2017
On July 8th, a team of 11 at Lasershape ran at the X-Runner event in Nottingham. The course was extremely challenging and saw the team climb over large obstacles, crawl through long narrow pipes, swim through a river and even be swept down rapids.
There were one or two bumps and bruises by the next day but it was all for a great cause as they were out to raise money for DCHC, Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre. DCHC is a local charity that’s been established for more than 125 years, taking children of Derbyshire who are having some difficulties in their home lives away on holiday. They currently provide 660 places each year.
Whilst there were no records set for pace, there was a target broken. The team raised over £3,000 in total, well beyond the initial target of £2,000.
Bill Tomlinson, Chairman, DCHC said, “this is a fantastic and memorable achievement which guarantees ten holidays for less fortunate children from Derbyshire at our Centre in Skegness. It is also motivating for all members of the DCHC team who recognise the effort that Lasershape eventers made. The ethos of the community spirit shown by all who participated is truly inspiring and also a credit to their company.”
Lasershape hope to organise an even bigger challenge next year to help raise even more support for good causes in the community.
Tim Leam, Managing Director, Lasershape said, “as a family we have supported this great charity for several years and I am very happy to see so many members of the team helping to raise money for this great cause. Most of us take a holiday for granted and to be able to give children from difficult backgrounds a chance to get away for a week gives me great pleasure. We had very generous support from customers/suppliers and friends and family and on behalf of the team I would like to thank you all for your donations.”
